Mild tremors spread panic in Nellore Nellore, Feb 2 (INN): Panic prevailed among people of Udayagiri and Varikuntapadu mandals in Nellore district in the wee hours of Wednesday after mild tremors rocked some villages. According to reports, the mild tremors lasted for a few 'moments', led to the villagers running out of their houses in panic. The tremors are also reported to have led to some minor cracks being developed on the walls of some houses in villages. The villagers claimed that they experienced the tremors thrice in succession.
However, officials of National Geophysical Research Institute, Hyderabad, are yet to confirm the tremors. The district officials said that there was no cause for worry. 'The minor tremors will not cause any major destruction and loss to lives.' The senior police officials visited the villages along with geologists to study the reasons for tremors.
