One lakh 2BHK units in City this year: KTR Hyderabad, May 16 (INN): Municipal Administration Minister K. Tarakarama Rao on Tuesday announced that the State Government would complete the construction of one lakh units of double bed room houses for weaker sections by the end of this year.
Speaking after laying foundation stone for construction of 2BHK houses in Banda Maisamma Nagar Basti of Bansilalpet division here, KTR said that the tendering process for construction of about 40,000 units have been completed and the works on construction of another 60,000 houses would begin soon. He informed that 468 double bed room houses will be constructed in Banda Maisamma Nagar Basti in an area of two acres at a cost of Rs. 34 crore.
KTR said that the Telangana State was on top in the country in constructing houses for the poor people. He said Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao wants to provide a decent life to all poor people and therefore, came up with the idea of providing 2BHK to them. He said as against the market price of about Rs. 35 lakh, the 2BHK houses were being given to poor people by the government which is spending Rs. 8.5 lakh on each unit towards cost of construction and other amenities.
Addressing the function, Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav said all residents of Basti would be given Possession Certificate. He said nearly 70% of houses in the area have been vacated and rest would be vacated soon to facilitate the construction of 2BHK houses.
GHMC Mayor Bonthu Rammohan, Deputy Mayor Baba Fasiuddin and other senior officials were also present.
