HC verdict a slap on KCR's face: Uttam

Manuguru, April 17 (INN): Welcoming the High Court verdict which had set aside the expulsion of two Congress MLAs from Legislative Assembly, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy has described it as a tight slap on the face of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao and TRS Government.

Addressing a massive public meeting in Manuguru town in Pinapaka Assembly constituency on Tuesday as part of Praja Chaitanya Yatra, Uttam Kumar Reddy said that KCR and Speaker S. Madhusudan Chary has no moral right to continue on their post after the HC verdict. He said that verdict has clearly vindicated Congress stand that the story of "attack" on Legislative Council chairman Swamy Goud was a drama scripted by KCR and enacted by TRS Government. He said that the High Court reversing the dismissal of Congress MLAs clearly exposed the level KCR and Madhusudan Chary have stooped down to suppress the voice of main opposition party.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the Congress legislators wanted to raise the issues pertaining to farmers, students, Dalits, Girijans, minorities and other sections of the society. "We wanted to highlight the failures of TRS Government during the last four years. We wished to expose that KCR Government did not fulfil a single major promise that it made with the people. However, Congress MLAs were forcibly thrown out to suppress their voice," he alleged.

The TPCC Chief said that the Congress party has fought against the expulsion of two MLAs and suspension of remaining members from the Assembly and Council both in the legal court and people's court. He said that the Hyderabad High Court has already pronounced the judgment describing the expulsion as illegal. He said that the verdict of people's court would also go in the favour of Congress party in next elections.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the Speaker has set a bad precedent by expelling two MLAs on the false charges of unruly behaviour. He said Madhusudan Chary's decision was undemocratic and unconstitutional. He said never in the history of independent India that the MLAs were expelled from the Assembly.

The TPCC Chief said that the HC verdict has signalled the beginning of end of TRS rule in Telangana State. He appealed to the people to vote out TRS in next elections to put an end to an autocratic, arrogant and dictatorial regime. He said democracy could be restored by voting the Congress party to power in both Telangana and at the national level.

Uttam Kumar Reddy slammed the TRS Government for its failure to resolve the issues pertaining to Sinagreni workers. He reminded that KCR had promised to take measures to give income tax exemption to Sinagreni employees. However, nothing has been done in this regard. He said outdated technology and equipment were being used in the construction of Bhadradari Power Plant in Manugudu. He said nowhere in the world sub-critical technology is being used in power plants. However, TRS Government is using this technology in the greed of getting commissions, he said.

The TPCC chief said that the use of obsolete technology poses a major threat to environment and the cost of power production would be too high due to heavy consumption of coal. He said the outdated technology was being used by setting aside the suggestions made by experts.

Uttam Kumar Reddy also gave a detailed description of Congress party's plan for the empowerment of women, youth, Singareni workers and other sections of the society.

Mallu Bhatti Vikramarkar, Shabbir Ali, Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy, Balram Naik, Venkat Reddy, Vega Kantha Rao, A. Revanth Reddy, Sridhar Babu, Gudur Naryan Reddy and other senior leaders were also present. Sweets were also distributed on the occasion to celebrate the HC verdict.
