Triple murderer commits suicide
VIJAYAWADA: It was a bloody saga which began on Thursday with the murder of a woman, followed by the discovery of the bodies of her two daughters several hours later and then ended up on Friday with the accused, the woman's husband and father of the two, ending his life by jumping to death from a building while being interrogated by the police.
What lay behind all the killings was Rao's doubt about his wife's fidelity. While 35-year-old Vemuri Aruna was found murdered at her residence in Gannavaram, the bodies of her two 'missing' daughters Kavya (11) and Sravya (7), were fished out from Krishna river on Friday.
According to the police, Prabhakara Rao, a security guard at Care & Share School, was taken into custody late on Thursday night after the policemen suspected his involvement in the murder of his wife and the 'missing' of his daughters.
Making contradictory statements each time while confessing to the triple murder, he finally led the police to a canal where he claimed to have pushed his two daughters.
With the police not being able to trace the bodies even after a night-long search, he then led them to Sitanagaram on the Krishna river bank, where the police could locate the bodies.
After stabbing his wife to death indiscriminately, Rao, who had locked his two daughters in a room, took them out on the pretext taking them out on a picnic and pushed them into the water.
Meanwhile, as the police began interrogating Rao to ascertain the reasons and how he went about killing the three, he revealed that his wife was having affairs with not one but two persons.
He told them that one of his wife's paramours was the father of one of the daughters. As the interrogation was in progress at the AR Dormitory grounds in the evening, Rao ran out suddenly and jumped down the first floor of the building. He was injured seriously and was rushed to a hospital but died soon.
