Articles: Development | Tsunami Fund raising in U.S.A - Mrs. sharmila Sanka

It was December 26th 2004 when the waves of the ocean greedily aspired to reach the rafters of the sky and mother earth fearing the sins of humanity trembled inside the mighty ocean leading to the disaster of Tsunami. This incident moved some of us which led to a good fund raising activity in Bentonville in the state of Arkansas. Few of my friends got together and arranged a FUND RAISING DINNER and we asked for $15 for their whole family to dine at Mary Ann Elementary School. The Principal of the School was gracious enough to provide us the venue at no charge taking Tsunami into consideration.
All the girls arranged a South Indian Dinner at very low price to encourage the spirit of willingness to serve in some manner. We expected around 200 people to dine and as the pre-booked tickets got sold in no time, we had to prepare ourselves for any number of people. 500+ people attended this dinner. We made all kinds of food for elders, kids and Americans. Before the food was served, my husband chanted ‘Brahmarpanam’ and offered it to Bhagawan to bless the food as well as the ones involved in this deed. We were worried that food might not be sufficient but with Swami’s blessings it so perfectly filled every one’s stomachs and they were all extremely delighted to say food was excellent and delicious. After all it was the Lord’s blessed Prasadam. With His divine grace it amounted to $4000 which we sent to Tsunami affected people in India.
Humbly
