Congress Challenges KCR on Modi Hyderabad, Feb 13 (INN): Congress senior leader and TPCC Treasurer Gudur Narayana Reddy on Wednesday challenged Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao to hold protest in Delhi or elsewhere against Prime Minister Narender Modi for the injustices his government has done with Telangana State.
Questioning the silence of KCR and other TRS leaders over two major protests held in Kolkatta and Delhi by Trinamool Congress and Telugu Desam Party against the BJP Government, Gudur Narayana Reddy said by abstaining from anti-Modi protests, KCR has proved his loyalty to BJP and Modi. He said that the Congress party has supported both the agitations and AICC President Rahul Gandhi even addressed the day long dharna held by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. "When entire opposition is raising its voice against the injustices being done by the BJP Government, TRS is aligning with PM Modi," he said.
Gudur Narayana Reddy said BJP Government at the Centre has done gross injustice with Telangana by not depriving the State with required funds and not honouring the promises made in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act. "When one State (AP) is openly holding protest against the injustices, why KCR is supporting the BJP by remaining silent on the issue?" he asked. He pointed out that Telangana did not get its due share in any of the five regular budgets and latest interim budget. He said it is highly regrettable that TRS MPs did not effectively raise their voice in the Parliament and miserably failed to fight for the rights of Telangana State.
The Congress leader said that the TRS MPs acted like mere rubber stamps during the last five years and did nothing for Telangana. "The presence of TRS MPs in Parliament was nothing more than symbolism and formality. None of the TRS MPs had the courage to fight with the government on people's issues. While KCR acted like a BJP agent, TRS MPs simply followed his dictate without even expressing their own views. This must end," he said adding that people of Telangana would not repeat the mistake of electing TRS MPs in forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. "Congress MPs had the guts to get statehood for Telangana in 2014. They will function with same vigour to bring Telangana its due share in next Lok Sabha," he said.
Gudur Narayana Reddy also ridiculed TRS party's alliance with YSR Congress Party in Andhra Pradesh. "KCR's Federal Front is proving to be farce with forces inclined towards BJP joining it. The next elections are between Modi-led BJP versus people of India. While Congress and other opposition parties are on people's side, TRS is clearly on Modi's side," he said.
The Congress leader also slammed KCR for the delay in formation of State Cabinet. "KCR took the oath as Chief Minister exactly two months ago. He appointed only one minister in his cabinet and deferred the appointment of a full fledged cabinet. Is this not a dictatorial form of government? Is it not against the spirit of democracy?" he asked.
Gudur Narayana Reddy also questioned the silence of TRS legislators over delay in cabinet expansion. "You were elected by people of this State and not nominated by KCR. You have a duty and obligation towards people which you need to fulfil. No legislator will be able to serve his constituency and people in the absence of a full-fledged cabinet. TRS MLAs and MLCs should come out of slavery mode and act as responsible elected representatives of people of Telangana," he said.
