KCR condolences for Anasuya Devi Hyderabad, March 24 (INN): Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao expressed his condolences on the demise of eminent folk artist, radio commentator Vinjamuri Anasuya Devi.
The Chief Minister said that Anasuya Devi is known to all as a radio commentator who participated in the freedom struggle and actively participated in the social activities. He conveyed his condolences to the members of family of the bereaved.
Dr Anasuya Devi is a famous folk artist, music director, and writer. She is renowned harmonium player. She is recipient of Kala Prapoorna Award. She has got her first gramophone record at the age of 8 years. She was a child prodigy.
She presented her talents in the august presence of eminent personalities like Mahatma Gandhi, Subhash Chandra Bose, Jawaharlal Nehru, Sarvepally Radha Krishna during freedom movement. She composed and sang the famous patriotic song 'Jaya Jaya Jaya Priya Bharathi' written by her uncle Devulapally Krishna Shastry.
Her two books Bava Geetalu, Compilation of Folk Songs were released on 12th April 2018 at Chennai to venerate her 90th birthday. Seven more books on Folk Songs and Folk music were also released.
She was honoured by Doctorate by Andhra University in the year 1977. She received life achievement award from America and Queen of Folk award from Paris.
