Elaborate arrangements for Dasara at Indrakeeladri Hyderabad, Sept 30 (INN): Krishna district incharge and Forest Minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy on Thursday directed Goddess Kanaka Durga Temple authorities to make elaborate arrangements to mark the nine-day Dasara celebrations, slated to begin on October 9. Reviewing the arrangements for Dasara celebrations of Goddess Kanaka Durga Temple atop Indrakeeladri with a special committee formed for the purpose, Mr Ramachandra Reddy directed officials to take all steps without causing any inconvenience to devotees, who turn up in large number for the festival.
He said officials were instructed not to compromise on safety of pilgrims and quality of arrangements though the budget was pruned. Sanitation would be given top priority, he said. After the review meeting, the Minister had the darshan of the Goddess seeking blessings. Later the Minister inspected the Ghat road and enquired about the steps taken for containing landslides. After enquiring with the officials concerned, the Minister said that the government yet to receive technical committee report on the measures to contain landslides. Based on the recommendations of report, the government would take steps to strengthening the retaining wall. The Minister said the landslides were triggered due to heavy rains and the government will take all preventive and safety measures to contain the damage.
