CM Rosaiah flags off Suburban train services Vijayawada: Chief Minister K Rosaiah on Wednesday flagged off the Circular MEMU Suburban Train Services between Vijayawada-Guntur-Tenali at Vijayawada Railway station.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Rosaiah said that the people of this region have been benefited and Railways have a greater role in the development of the region. A long felt aspiration of the people of this region has been fulfilled today. He was very happy that the services will be utilized by about 20,000 people daily.
The Chief Minister lauded the SC Railway for having introduced the services and said that the Rail network in the backward region will help boost the economy. He said that several Railway projects have been sanctioned for the State of AP in the Railway budget and he appreciated the UPA Government for sanctioning more number of projects for the Andhra Pradesh. Mr Rosaiah further stated that the Railways are the safest and cheapest mode of transport when compared to the Road transport.
KH Muniyappa, said that the services introduced will cover a distance of 90 Kilometres in about 1 hour and 50 minutes. The train will have operated six days a week and will consist of eight coaches which will carry about 2300 passengers.
He further stated that Andhra Pradesh has shown a lot of interest for the development of the State and have ventured to contribute their share in the cost of on-going project (Kotipalli-Narsapur) and six other projects within the State of AP.
The State Governments contribution will be to the tune of Rs 1839.84 Corer for the new Railway projects and also two new doubling and electrification works and has proposed three new projects under the Public Private partnership (PPP). He also mentioned that A P received a Budgetary allocation of Rs 1869.81 Corer as against Rs 780 Corer in the year 2009-10 budget.
Earlier, SCR General Manager MS Jayanth, welcoming the gathering and also outlined the salient features of the circular MEMU suburban services in the Vijayawada Division of SC Railway. Vijayawada Division divisional Railway Manager Anuraag Mathur was also present on the occasion.
Railways KH Muniyappa, Forest Enviornment, Science and Technology Minister P Ramachandra Reddy, Animal Husbandry, Diary Development, Fisheries and Veteinary University Minister K Pardha Sardhi, Zilla Parishad Minister K Nageshwara Rao, Krishna Dist MP L Rajagopal, MLAs M Vishnu and V Srinivasa Rao also participated in the programme.
