Woman dies in childbirth, doctors attacked Visakhapatnam, Oct 22 (INN): Alleging negligence on part of doctors for a woman losing her life, angry relatives staged a protest in front of Victoria Hospital in Visakhapatnam early on Friday. According to Sub-Inspector Krishna, Padma (22), wife of Prasad was admitted to the hospital on October 18 for childbirth. On Thursday evening, the mother-to-be started feeling labour pains and the doctors advised Caesarian section for her. They told Prasad (32) to arrange blood for her before the surgery.
Prasad managed to make arrangements for the blood, which the doctors infused in to Padma. She started shivering while the blood was being infused, making the doctors stop the procedure. Early on Friday morning, Padma developed complications and passed away even as the doctors were trying to save her.
Prasad and his relatives immediately vent their fury at the doctors and hospital staff there, and blamed them for the death. The police were called in to control the situation. Prasad later filed a complaint charging the doctors at the hospital for Padmas death. A case has been registered and further investigations are on.
