Helen's rain dance could play spoilsport VISAKHAPATNAM: Cyclone Helen did an enticing dance over this city before wiggling away, threatening the second ODI between India and West Indies to be held at YSR Rajasekhara Reddy-ACA-VDCA Stadium on Sunday.
The city's tango with cyclones is common, particularly during this part of the year. But two in quick succession is a recipe for disaster. After Phailin, comes Helen, spreading its tantalising rain dance that is giving anxious moments to the Andhra Cricket Association (ACA), who are keeping their fingers crossed.
The organisers are hoping that the storm abates. The city has been witnessing heavy rain since Thursday morning. The teams, which flew in from Kochi, were welcomed by a heavy drizzle in the afternoon. The good news is that there could be a clear sky on Sunday, according to the met department.
MSK Prasad, former Test stumper and now director (operations) of ACA, said it is unfortunate that the weather is playing foul. After hosting four ODIs successfully since 2005, rain forced abandonment of the India-New Zealand T20 last September. Curator K Nagamallaiah has ruled out practice sessions for the teams on Saturday.
