PSU bank employees day long strike hit bank transactions Ongole, December 2. All the branches of nationalised banks in prakasam district remained closed as part of one day strike to press for wage hike on Tuesday.
The strike call was given by United Forum of Bankers and the strike hit bank customers while cash transactions took a severe hit as the ATMs of major banks went dry.
Bank customers faced innumerable problems due to one day strike by the employees of nationalized banks in Prakasam district.
We have scaled down our demand from 25 per cent to 23 per cent of wage hike, but IBA is not yielding. It has been sticking to its earlier offer of 11 per cent which is not enough , according to a bank official.
Bank employees staged a demonstration before the Andhra Bank main branch at Nellore bustand today. Earlier the employees staged a protest in front of the State Bank of india main branch at Ongole.
They came down heavily against the centre for ignoring pay revision to the Bank employees.
As per the norm, pay should be revised once in five years but this was not done even though it is seven and half years since last pay revision.
The employees also rebuked the government for lopsided reforms in the banking sector.
