APRS staged dharna against gold loan auction Ongole, December 2. Andhra Pradesh Rythu Sangam staged a dharna at the collectorate on Monday and raised slogans against the banks and submitted a memorandum to the district collector G.S.R.K.r. Vijay Kumar to direct the banks to cancel the gold loan auction notices to the thousands of farmers.
Though the government released Rs.5000 crore to waive 20 percent of the crop loans, the bank officials continue to mount pressure on farmers to pay their crop loans taken against the gold ornaments immediately.
The bank officials warned that if they dont pay their crop loans immediately, they will auction their gold to recover their dues and said that they will follow the guidelines issued by the higher officials.
In Prakasam district more than one lakh farmers have to pay Rs.6000 crore worth of crop loans to the banks. The poor farmers believed Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu's assurance that he would waive the crop loans,finally he disappointed the farmers.
