SBI field officer arrested in bribery case Ongole, December 11: A senior State Bank of India field officer have been arrested by CBI on charges of taking bribe for processing a loan.
CBI's anti-corruption branch in Markapuram has arrestedM. Srinivasa Rao, Field Officer (Loans) of State Bank of India, Markapuram branch, for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 for sanctioning Rs. 1 lakh loan to a school teacher .
The school teacher K. Jayamani approached the bank field officer for loan and Srinivasa Rao demanded Rs. 10000 as bribe to sanction loan.
Her husband Trimurthi agreed to pay Rs. 5000 bribe from the school teacher in his house on Thursday. Trimurthi informed the CBI about the bribe for sanctioning loan.
The CBI officers conducted raid in the field officer house and recovered the amount and took Srinivasa Rao into custody.
The bribe was for processing and sanction of loan, a CBI official said.
A case has been registered under Section 120 B of IPC and Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
