Bank of Maharashtra opens 13.61 lakh BSBD accounts Pune: Bank of Maharashtra has opened 13.61 lakh BSBD accounts under PMJDY in a record span of 3 months. It has arranged a campaign during December, for opening of accounts of uncovered families under the Prime Minister Jan Dhan Yojna(PMJDY). Under the ambitious mission of PMJDY which was launched by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, every household, preferably women member of the family shall have a Bank account by 26th January. The mission aims at bringing into the mainstream of Banking and Finance, the hitherto excluded class.
R.K. Gupta, Executive Director informed that during the campaign, Bank will be focussing upon opening Bank accounts of uncovered families and issuing RuPay debit cards to all the account holders besides creating awareness among the account holders about usage, safety and benefits of RuPay debit card.
Bank has completed the survey of households in allotted Urban wards and Rural Sub Service areas and are now focussing upon opening of accounts of 3.61 lakh identified uncovered families. The Bank has engaged 3552 Business Correspondent Agents in 3048 allotted SSAs and has opened 13.61 lakh BSBD accounts under PMJDY
during the period from 15th August.
The Bank has also mobilised deposits of Rs. 68.46 crore in these BSBD accounts. The Bank has so far issued 8.97 lakh RuPay debit cards. The Bank is handling grievances of the PMJDY customers through exclusive toll free number 18001022636.
