TDP MLAs held in Warangal for protest Warangal, September 1 (INN): Several MLAs and MLCs of Telugu Desam Party were arrested by the police after they tried to lay seize to NPDCL office in protest against the energy crisis here on Saturday.
The TDP legislators led by Errabelli Dayakar Rao gheraod the NPDCL office demanding that the State Government fulfill its promise of supply seven hours of power to the farmers. However, they were arrested by the police and shifted to a nearby police station.
Later, talking to reporters Dayakar Rao said that the TDP's protests were aimed at highlighting the failures of Kiran Kumar Reddy Government in tackling the power crisis in the State.
He alleged that the government was using the police forces to disrupt the protests being held by the opposition parties to supress their voice.
However, he said that the TDP would continue its protests until the government solves the power crisis.
Dayakar Rao also condemned the Congress leaders for repeatedly reminding the TDP about Basheerbagh firing incident related to power tariff hike protest during the TDP's regime.
He said TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu has repeatedly described the incident as unfortunate and expressed regret.
He said it was wrong on the part of ruling party to cover up its present mistakes by quoting past incidents.
