190 cr withdrawn in Medak through ATMs Hyderabad, Apr 16 : The Election department and the IT have launched a massive investigation to trace the Rs.190 crore withdrawn through ATMs in last 30 days in the Medak district. In around 70 ATMs through 15 major towns in the Medak district including industrial towns, educational hub which also on the Hyd -Mumbai highway. The EC is scouting for legal action, according to sources.
Intelligence reports says that most of the cash is transported through ambulances and milk vans and a strict vigil has commenced on these transports now. After several huge seizures took place, when cash was moved through government buses, however, the poll managers are now looking for better modes.
Poll betting - AP tops with Rs 510 crore.
The simultaneous polls to panchayat and local body polls concluded earlier in Andhra Pradesh has given room for a massive doze of poll betting. In all around 3000 cases have been booked in the betting hubs of Hyderabad, Vizag,Vijayawada ,Guntur, according to police sources.
In Seemandhra heavy betting is reported in Guntur, Narasaraopeta, Vinukonda,Sattenapalli, Piduguralla ,Chilakaluripeta, Ponnur, Bapatla, Tenali, Repalle and Mangalagiri where all heavy money bags are in poll fray from both major contenders- YSRC and TDP.
'Betting is on candidates reputation and also margins '. Similarly in Telangana, the segments of Karimnagar, Warangal, Mahbubnagar and Nizamabad are the main betting hubs. 'Here the betting is on poll percentages and the parties as candidates count much in the region.
Betting operations are normally conducted by liquor chains and real estate agents who normally have networks across towns and cities, say the police officials who also keep tab on transporters.
