Fee issue: AP to seek Centre intervention HYDERABAD: With the Telangana government sticking to its stand on the fee reimbursement issue, the Andhra Pradesh government has decided to as the Centre to intervene and resolve the matter. HRD minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao will lead an all party delegation to Delhi on Wednesday and request the Centre to direct the Telangana government to resolve the issue at the earliest.
Health minister Kamineni Srinivas Rao, APCC president N Raghuveera Reddy, YSRC MLA Jyothula Nehru, CPI state secretary K Ramakrishna, CPM state secretary P Madhu and BJP MLA P Vishnu Kumar will be a part of the delegation.
Speaking to mediapersons at the secretariat here, social welfare minister R Kishore Babu said 'With the Telangana government adopting an adamant attitude on the fee reimbursement issue, the AP government has decided to seek the Centre's intervention.' and added that they had no option left as the Telangana government refused to budge from its stance even after repeated requests.
'Our chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu wrote a letter to his Telangana counterpart K Chandrasekhar Rao and even made his appeal public but there was no response. Hence we have decided to approach the Centre and take the legal route,' the minister said.
Kishore Babu said the delegation would meet Union urban development minister M Venkaiah Naidu, who will lead the delegation to the concerned ministers. Para 95 of the AP reorganisation Act states that Eamcet admission should be jointly conducted for 10 years and by not cooperating with Andhra Pradesh, the Telangana government was violating the constitution, the minister pointed out.
'KCR is not above law and he has to follow the law of the land,' he added. Replying to a question, the social welfare minister said KCR has the staff to demolish illegal buildings but not hold Eamcet counselling. The minister said his government would ensure that the issue was resolved at the earliest and counselling began.
Coming down heavily on YSRC chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and Congress leaders, Kishore Babu said at a time when the future of students was at stake the opposition leaders were silent. 'I do not understand why Jagan and other Congress leaders are keeping quiet? Do they think raising their voice against the TRS would harm their properties in Hyderabad?' the minister.
