KCR chants 'give me industries' mantra HYDERABAD: Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao means business. During an interactive session with several industrialists on the new industrial policy, Rao took on-the-spot decisions after noting down the problems faced by them and quickly followed it up with his officials and came back with instant solutions which took the industry community by surprise.
Rao told the industrialists that around 35 lakh acres of government land was available in Telangana. Of the 20 lakh acres unfit for agriculture, three lakh acres would be readily given away for industries. 'A survey will be conducted by the district Collectors and officials of industries department. The exact land available for industries will be known by next week,' Rao said.
KCR said he would keep the industry portfolio with him and see that the industries were given permissions by the government. 'Industrialists need not go running around for getting clearances. A chasing cell to be set up in the CMO will give permissions,' the CM said.
Rao said that dedicated power lines would be laid for the ITIR project and the power shortage problem would be overcome in two years. 'Telangana will be a power surplus state within three years,' Rao claimed.
Rao declared that the industrial policy would be inclusive by involving SCs and STs. 'Around 100 new entrepreneurs from SC and ST families will be encouraged to set up industries,' the Chief Minister said.
He also directed the officials to work out plans for setting up a 'safety net' for micro, small and medium industries. 'If these industries contribute a certain amount of money every month, the government will release a matching grant. The corpus created thus will help the sick industries or those which are facing crisis,' Rao said.
During the interaction, Rao noted down some of the industrialists' phone numbers for contacting them in future.
