Telangana CM tears into fee reimbursement HYDERABAD: Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao trained his guns on the fee reimbursement scheme yet again by terming it as a sham. At an interactive session with industrialists here, Rao said the fee reimbursement was a corrupt scheme and as a result, local youths were not able to match up to the expectations of the industry.
He said thanks to the scheme, skill development was lacking in a majority of the engineering colleges in the state. Though new industries were coming up, local youths were not getting jobs due to lack of skills. The Chief Minister blamed the engineering colleges and the fee reimbursement scheme for this.
He pointed out that the engineering colleges lacked basic amenities like laboratories but lured students by doling out incentives.
Rao made it clear that his government would not encourage non-serious engineering colleges which cannot produce skilled workforce. Rao stated that the government would not encourage non-serious students. He said the government would discuss with intellectuals on improving the standards of engineering education.
He ridiculed that some persons were making a hue and cry over the delay in engineering counselling. 'We urge the industries to take local youths. If the industries bring skilled employees from other countries there is no objection. But they should also provide jobs to local youths,' Rao said.
He said that Anand Mahindra of Mahindra and Mahindra group would soon meet him.
