Travelers attack woman TTE Hyderabad: A woman Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE) was thrashed by a few ticketless travellers in a moving train at Begumpet in Train No. 47150 Falaknuma ' Lingampalli MMTS service for asking them to pay penalty on Wednesday.
The victim, Kausalya, aged 30, who was performing her duty, had detained three women Kumari, Ragini and Padma hailing from Vijayawada for travelling without a ticket. The three women, who claimed to be new to the city, informed her that they did not know the system of purchasing ticket.
When the TTE asked them to pay the penalty, these women claimed innocence. However, with the TTE insisting on a fine amount of Rs 780 from all the three girls, they refused.
A heated argument ensued which resulted in the TTE reportedly snatching two mobile phones from the accused women. Suddenly, all the three women pounced on the TTE and thrashed her even as passersby tried to intervene in the matter. Suddenly, a few other women passengers in the MMTS too participated in the attack and assaulted the TTE.
As soon as the train reached Begumpet railway station, she sought the help of the Government Railway Police, who succeeded in nabbing two of her attackers Padma and Kumari. Both have been detained for further enquiry.
Condemning the attack, the South Central Railway in a press release informed that when the TTE detected a group of ticketless passengers and asked them to pay the penalty charges, she was assaulted. 'The TTE suffered minor injuries in the attack and was not hospitalised,' said SCR Chief PRO K Sambasiva Rao.
