Shabbir Ali Slams Naidu, KCR over EAMCET counseling

Hyderabad, July 31 (INN): Deputy CLP Leader in Telangana Legislative Council Mohammad Ali Shabbir on Thursday advised the Governments of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to sit, discuss and resolve the controversy over EAMCET Counseling.

Addressing a press conference at the Congress Legislature Party Office here, Shabbir Ali condemned the Chief Ministers - Nara Chandrababu Naidu and K Chandrasekhar Rao for allowing their egos to overshadow the interest of lakhs of Telugu students.

He said that the adamant attitude of both the Chief Ministers was hurting the students who are on the verge of losing their academic career. Their attitude is worse than two rival countries indulged in cold war.

"When India can hold negotiations with Pakistan and China despite having serious disputes over border and other issues, whey not two Telugu speaking States sit on negotiation table?" he asked.

Citing examples, he said Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was invited to attend the oath taking ceremony of India's Prime Minister Narender Modi.

Similarly, Indian PM held talks with his Chinese counterpart during BRICS conference. Therefore, there is no harm if the Chief Ministers of both the Telugu speaking States discuss and resolve their differences.

Shabbir Ali asked Naidu and KCR to set aside their difference and find an amicable solution of disputes relating to EAMCET counseling, power and water sharing.

"Both of you (Naidu & KCR) have achieved your goals. You have become the Chief Minister. At least now, you should stop raising sentiments and discuss the development of both the Telugu speaking States," he advised.

Shabbir Ali strongly condemned the ongoing controversy over EAMCET counseling. He said while the decision of Andhra Pradesh Government to initiate EAMCET counseling was taken in haste, the Telangana Government's adamant attitude over the issue was highly condemnable.

He said either the Chief Ministers, Education Ministers or at least officials from both the States should sit across to resolve the issue or wait till August 4 for the final verdict of Supreme Court on the issue.

He criticised governments of both the States for creating confusion over the issue. He accused them of playing with the lives of lakhs of innocent students just to satisfy their egos. He said that the Congress party would extend its support for the amicable solution of the issue.
