ACB unearths 7 Cr from PCB engineer at Vizag VISAKHAPATNAM: Properties worth about `7 crore were unearthed from Pollution Control Board senior engineer Korukonda Ramesh during the raids conducted by the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths.
Ramesh, a native of Ponduru, was arrested and he will be produced in the ACB court Friday. The raids were conducted simultaneously at 10 places, including the houses of Ramesh and his relatives at Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Ponduru and Kothagudem.
The ACB team led by deputy superintendent of police Narasimha Rao, which raided Ramesh's house here, seized 2.9 kg of silverware, 170 gm of gold ornaments, `36,000 cash, documents related to three apartments at Srinagar, Pithapuram Colony and Visalakshinagar in the city, 10 housing plots in Srikakulam, Vizag and Ponduru and 10 acres of farmland at Ponduru in Srikakulam district and a few places in Vizag district. Ramesh was also found to be having a bank balance of around `10 lakh and another `9 lakh in GPF account.
Ramesh has three bank lockers at Kothagudem which will be opened on Friday. Ramesh has been working in the PCB since 1989 and got promoted as a senior environmental engineer (task force) two years back. The task force has jurisdiction over Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, East and West Godavari districts. Ramesh's wife K Sesha is an assistant engineer in the Irrigation department.
