Event City to come up in Hyderabad Hyderabad, Aug 27 (INN): Information Technology Minister K Tarakarama Rao has announced that the Telangana Government would set up Hyderabad Habitat Centre (HHC) at Khanamet near Hyderabad on the lines of New Delhi's Indian Habitat Centre.
Speaking after launching the Telangana Chambers of Events Industry (TCEI) here on Wednesday, KTR said that the proposed HHC or Event City would be set up at a cost of Rs 100 crore.
KTR said that it was a great sign that Event Industry is organizing itself into a professional body. "This makes easier for the government to interact with the industry. For any industry to grow you need an industrial body and I am happy that TCEI has been formed. It is the first of its kind of a body in India. It is a wonderful initiative," he said.
"We want to see many Global Events happening in city. The recently launched initiative, Happening Hyderabad coordinated by IdentCity along with Tourism has been getting overwhelming response. We were just looking at 52 events for 52 weeks.
Now the IndentCity has lined up 157 events. Even Badminton League, Kabaddi League wants to be a part of the Happening Hyderabad initiative," KTR said. "I am also keeping my fingers crossed that a big event management company is also planning to host South India Film Awards function in Hyderabad for next three years," he added.
The Minister said that the Telangana Government was committed to de-congest Hyderabad by coming up with various clusters for the growth of the city. As part of this initiative, cities for Pharma, Film, Games, Sports are planned he said.
The Telangana Chamber of Events Industry is not-for-profit organization, this industrial body comprises of six industry sub sectors viz., Events, Sound, Light & Video,Facilitators, Event Caterers, Event Venue, Entertainers etc.
TSIIC MD Jayesh Ranjan, film actress Poonam Kaur, TECI President Surath Singh Malhotra and Neeraj Thakure also addressed the gathering.
