REC assures Rs 20,000 Cr funding for TS power projects Hyderabad, Sept 2 (INN): The Rural Electrification Corporation of Government of India has assured to fund to a tune of Rs.20,000/- crores for the projects of Telangana GENCO, TRANSCO and distribution companies.
REC Chairman and Managing Director Rajeev Sharma along with GENCO CMD D Prabhakar Rao called on Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao at the Secretariat here on Tuesday. The Chief Minister expressed his thanks to the REC CMD and following his suggestion the latter also agreed to fund all the GENCO Projects.
The Chief Minister also discussed the power scenario with both of them. He told the GENCO CMD that the present available production capacity of less than 5000MW of power needs to be increased through long term, short term and medium term strategies.
The GENCO CMD told the Chief Minister that the state will get 2800 MW of additional power by the end of next year from three sources viz. From Bhupalpally 600MW of GENCO, from Jaipur in Adilabad 1200 MW of Singareni and 1000 MW of Central Station totaling 2800 MW will be made available.
He told the Chief Minister that when this is made available, the deficiency will be overcome and the extra power that is likely to be generated in future will become surplus.
Principal Secretary to CM S Narsing Rao, Prl. Secy. Finance Nagi Reddy were also present in the meeting.
