GHMC to restore historic park near OGH Hyderabad, Oct 17 (INN): GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar has announced that the park behind the Osmania General Hospital, which is in neglected state, will be reviewed to its past glory without disturbing its heritage structure within the span of 100 days. This park has a Tamarind tree which saved about 150 lives during the 1908 floods.
The Commissioner, Central and South Zone Commissioners, Chief City Planner, members of AGA Khan Trust and other senior officials inspected the park behind Osmania General Hospital on Friday.
The Commissioner said that the visit was aimed at developing a heritage corridor all along the park and sought proposals at the earliest to complete the said project within the span of 100 days.
Somesh Kumar instructed the GHMC officials to coordinate with the Aga Khan Trust members in works relating to Survey, landscaping designing and feasibility study. He also instructed that the fountain, which was installed during the Nizam's Rule, be restored to its original position.
