Deepavali Asthanam performed in Tirumala Tirumala, October 23, 2014: On the occasion of Deepavali-the festival of lights, 'Deepavali Asthanam' was performed with religious fervour at the 'Bangaru Vakili' in Tirumala temple in a ceremonious manner on Thursday.
The 'Deepavali Asthanam' was preceded by special rituals like 'Vishesha Padi' and presentation of new silk 'Vastrams' to the main deity followed by a procession taken out around the 'Vimana Prakaram' inside the temple by Tirumala Pedda Jiyangar accompanied by Chinna Jiyangar and other TTD officials and temple priests. The processional deities of Lord Malayappa Swamy was flanked by his two consorts on either sides seated on a special palanquin facing opposite to Garudalwar inside Bangaru Vakili.
The processional deity of Commander-in-Chief of Lord Venkateswara, Sri Vishwaksenula Varu, was seated on another seat to the left side of the Lord. Special pujas including Rupee Coin Harati and Pratyeka Harati were offered to the Lord amidst chanting of vedic hymns by temple priests. After the Teertham, 'shatari' and 'prasadams' were offered to the officials who took part in the festival.
Junior Pontiff of Kanchi Mutt Vijayendra Saraswathi Shankaracharya Swamiji, TTD EO MG Gopal, Chief Justice of Delhi High Court Justice Rohini, Tirupati Urban SP Gopinath Jetti and others took part.
