Naidu flouting AP act, KCR tells Modi

HYDERABAD: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene in the implementation of the AP Reorganisation Act, as Andhra Pradesh is flouting the Act and cheating Telangana in respect of power sharing.

'It is your legitimate duty to implement the AP Reorganisation Act. The AP CM is flouting the Act. Come to the rescue of Telangana,' Chandrasekhar Rao urged the Prime Minister.

Briefing reporters on the decision of the State Cabinet, Chandrasekhar Rao said on Friday night that the Telangana government would knock on the doors of the Supreme Court on the cheating of AP on power sharing. Rao alleged that the Centre was playing a spectator role for the last four months, when AP was flouting the Reorganisation Act.

As per the AP Reorganisation Act, Telangana should get 53.89 per cent of power produced in plants both in AP and Telangana. 'Right from the formation of Telangana till date, the total power produced was 5,852 million units.

The actual share of Telangana is 3,170 million units. But, Telangana got only 3,087 million units power. We have received 82 million units less. This is the cheating of Naidu. We will file a case in the apex court on the issue,' Rao said.

He said that the Telagnana Genco, two Discoms had invested Rs 1,050 crore in Krishnapatnam and Hinduja power plants. 'From these two plants, Telangana has every right to get power. But, the AP failed to share the infirm power produced by Krishnapatnam,' the Chief Minister alleged. He said that the share of Telangana in Krishnapatnam and Hinduja plants would come to around 1,422 MW.

Finding fault with the AP Chief Minister for making an issue of power generation at Srisailam by the Telangana government, Rao recalled that it was during Naidu's regime, the combined AP issued a GO that water could be drawn up to 779 feet in Srisailam.

When Rajasekhara Reddy issued another GO increasing the mean draw level of Srisailam up to 854 feet, Naidu opposed it. 'The present level at Srisailam is 857 feet and we can draw water up to 834 feet,' Rao said. 'When these are the facts, what rubbish you are talking and whom you are trying to fool,' Rao asked his AP counterpart.

Rao also said that he was informing the governor of the developments from time to time. Responding to the invitation for a debate from Naidu, Rao retorted 'I am ready for a debate on all the issues at Abids Centre or on the Prakasam barrage,' Rao said.

Rao further said that he would expose Naidu for cheating even his own AP farmers and Dwacra women. 'Naidu promised to waive all the crop and Dwacra loans. But he put conditions later. Naidu is a liar,' Rao alleged. 'In spite of your cheating, we are cooperating with you. We have sent men for relief operations in the cyclone-hit areas,' Rao told Naidu.

ATOMIC POWER: On the augmentation of power in Telangana, Rao said that the government invited the Department of Atomic Energy to set up a power plant with an installed capacity of 6,000 MW.

But, they agreed to set up 4,000 MW atomic power plant. Besides, Rao would proceed to Chhattisgarh to sign an MoU to purchase 1,000 MW. In all Telangana had plans to generate 14,000 MW additional power.
