Pastor Sudhir arrested for preaching on Tirumala TIRUPATI: An evangelist, who allegedly indulged in religious conversions along with four others on Tirumala, was arrested in Krishna district on Thursday.
Police have launched a hunt for the other absconding offenders. Their illegal activities on the Hindu hill shrine came to light following a video footage going viral on the YouTube.
Tirupati Urban superintendent of police Gopinath Jatti told reporters here that on receiving a complaint from a local resident a special investigation team swung into action to nab the offenders.
'The main accused, Mondithoka Sudhir, was taken into custody at Ramanagaram village in Krishna district at 10 am today. A case has been filed,' he said.
Pastor Sudhir is said to be the founder-director of Immanuel Baptist Ministry of India (IBMI), which was established at Ramanagaram in 1980. Along with him, Sukumar, Joseph, David and Yesuratnam indulged in preaching against Lord Venkateswara. Sudhir was taken into custody after confessing to his offence.
