AP among 10 States to get Swachh Bharat funds Hyderabad, Feb 25 (INN): Andhra Pradesh is among the ten States in the country which have been provided funds of nearly Rs 460 crore under Swachh Bharat Mission.
In his return reply to a question raised by M Murali Mohan, Hema Malini and other members in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, Minister of State for Urban Development Babul Supriyo informed that his ministry has so far sanctioned Rs 459.93 crore to 10 States as the first installment under Swachh Bharat Mission for the year 2014-15.
While Maharastra has been given Rs 135 crore, Karanataka got Rs 80.01 crore, West Bengal - Rs 64.01 Cr; Gujarat - Rs 40.95 Cr; Andhra Pradesh - Rs 40 Cr; Bihar - Rs 37.72 Cr; Chattisgarh - Rs 30.79; Madhya Pradesh - Rs 18.81 Cr; Manipur - Rs 11.21 Cr and Odisha has been sanctioned Rs 1.43 crore.
The sanctions include Rs 310.10 crore for construction of household and community toilets, Rs 48 Crore for awareness generation activities and Rs 12 crore for capacity building.
Babul Supriyo further informed that under Swachh Bharat Mission in urban areas, 1.04 crore household toilets are targeted to be built by 2018. State-wide targets in respect of household toilets under the Mission are Tamil Nadu - 13.95 lakh, Uttar Pradesh - 11.83 lakh, Maharashtra - 8.99 lakh, Karnataka - 8.88 lakh, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana - 7.93 lakh, West Bengal - 7.88 lakh, Madhya Pradesh - 7.32 lakh, Rajasthan - 5.62 lakhs, Bihar - 5.47 lakh, Gujarat - 4.06 lakh, Odisha - 4.03 lakh, Chattisgarh - 3.51 lakh, Jharkhand - 2.31 lakh, Haryana - 2.16 lakh, Punjab - 1.96 lakh, Kerala - 1.76 lakh, Assam - 1.46 lakh and NCT of Delhi - 1.25 lakh.
