Polavaram in four years, says Babu Hyderabad, March 29 (INN): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has expressed confidence of completing the Polavaram Project in the next four years with the help of Central Government.
Speaking after laying the foundation stone for the Pattiseema Lift Irrigation project on Sunday, Naidu said that all hurdles were being cleared to complete the Polavaram project in a phase manner. Similarly, he said that the Pattiseema project would be completed within a year and it is aimed at tapping nearly 3,000 TMC of surplus Godavari River waters which are now flowing into the sea. He said the surplus water would be diverted to Krishna River for supply to the delta region of Krishna and Godavari and backward Rayalaseema.
Naidu assured that every acre of land in West Godavari district would get water for irrigation and entire Godavari and Krishna delta would be turned into drought-free region.
The Chief Minister also informed that there was a proposal to set up a Marine University in West Godavari district. He also spoke the difficulties being faced by the residuary State of Andhra Pradesh after the bifurcation of State.
