GHMC widens city roads Hyderabad, April 7 (INN): The long pending road widening between Airport flyover and Shoppers' Stop on Begumpet road is now being achieved through joint operation by HMR and GHMC.
This stretch on the busy Begumpet road, which has become a severe traffic bottleneck as widening in front of Allauddin and Jabbar buildings got stuck for the last 30 years due to prolonged litigation and 'heritage' issues.
After depositing a compensation amount of Rs.2.14 Cr in the Court for 666 sq. yards of open space in front of Allauddin building, the large earthen mound in front of it was removed last week and the road was widened by an additional 40 feet by HMR. Similarly, after payment of Rs.5.87 Cr for 635 sq. yards of land and structural compensation, Jabbar building is now being demolished and it will be completed in a week, stated Mr.NVS Reddy. With these demolitions and road widening, the heavy traffic congestion on this important Begumpet ' Secunderabad road would be addressed and construction of Prakash Nagar Metro station can now be taken up, he added.
