Dattatreyya launches Career Counselling for youth
Hyderabad, April 12 (INN): Union Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatreyya launched "Career Counselling and Skill Development for Youth" programme at Kamla Nehru Polytechnic College at Nampally here on Sunday.
Speaking on the occasion, Dattatreyya informed that a National Career Counseling Portal, which can inform the youth about the job opportunities through Short Messaging Service (SMS), would be launched soon. He said that the employment exchanges all over the country would get facelift soon. By launching the SMS service for the youth, the job aspirants will get the required information instantly. He requested the youth, to utilize the training and career counseling facilities offered by the government.
As per the data available, only 1.9 % of the country's population completed technical education and training, where as in China, Japan and Germany this is more than 70%, 50% and 30% respectively, said the minister. To train the Indian youth, the Government of India signed a MOU with Government of Germany. The training enables the youth, to get employment directly in that country, he said.
To be part of the Make In India campaign, the youth has to work by utilizing training services offered by the central government, said Dattatreyya. There are nearly one lakh government jobs available in the Telangana State Government although the recruitment for these posts was not done due to various reasons. At the same time nearly 20 lakh jobs are available in the private sector in the State. Instead of looking for the government job, the youth with the proper skill development can get employment in the private sector and at the same time, they can provide jobs as entrepreneur, he said.
The Labour and Employment ministry is also planning to strengthen the ITI s in the country. To start with funds were released to local Mallepally ITI to make it as a model one, he said.
BJP MLAs G Kishan Reddy, Dr K Lakshman, Raja Singh and Chintala Ramchandra Reddy and officials of Central and State Governments participated in the inaugural event.
