Over 7 lakh participated in 'Swachh Hyderabad': GHMC Hyderabad, May 20 (INN): Nearly 32,250 tons of garbage / debris has been removed during the five-day long 'Swachh Telangana ' Swachh Hyderabad' programme which concluded on Wednesday.
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has claimed that the programme, which was launched on May 16, witnessed the participation of nearly seven lakh people,
Governor ESL Narasimhan, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, Ministers, MPs, MLAs, MLCs, officers of All India Service and various Government Heads of the departments have participated in the programme. They interacted with the local residents of their segments and took up various civic related works including lifting of garbage and debris in their allotted segments. The GHMC usually lifts around 3,600 metric tons of garbage every day. With the involvement of VVIPs and general public, nearly 8,000 metric tons of garbage was removed every day in the programme.
In addition to the existing fleet of vehicles, additional 510 tippers and 60 JCBs were deployed for lifting of garbage and debris in the programme. About 7,386 metric tons of garbage was lifted on 17th May; 8,127 MT on 18th May; 8346 MT on 19th May and 8,390 MT was removed on Wednesday.
With the help of 500 instant repairing teams, more than 15,000 works were taken up on 17th of May, 3,344 works on 18th May, 3780 on 19th May and 4,290 workers were repaired on 20th May..
About Rs. 600 crores worth works proposals have been received from various segments which include various civic works like road repairing works, construction of community halls and providing of libraries, gyms etc., in their colonies. On 17th of May, Rs 130 crores proposals were received; on 18th May - Rs 130 crores proposals and on 19th May, Rs 180 crores worth proposals were received from various segments.
