DRI seize 121 kgs of Alprazolam worth Rs. 24 lakh Hyderabad, July 30 (INN): Acting on specific intelligence that a psychotropic substance, namely Alprazolam was being illicitly manufactured and stored in a factory premises in Jeedimetla, the officers of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence conducted a a search operation and recovered 121 Kgs of Alprazolam from the said factory premises.
The said substance, along with drying machine being used to manufacture and a cash of Rs. 3,97,500/- were seized under NDPS Act, 1985. The estimated value of the seized Alprazolam in the domestic market is approximately Rs. 24.25 lakhs.
In the course of the operation three persons, viz., the Proprietor of the company, Chemist and a person who came to take the delivery of the said Alprazolam have been arrested on Wednesday and produced before the Court of VI Metropolitan Magistrate, Cyberahad, Medchal on Thursday. The accused persons have reportedly confessed of their role in manufacture, storage and delivery of the said psychotropic substance. They have been remanded to judicial custody for 14 days. Further investigations in the case are in progress.
It also appears that the said substance has earlier been sold by them to Toddy shop owners in and around Nizamabad and Adilabad for mixing the same in Toddy, the DRI said in a press release.
