Integrated approach to develop Coastal AP proposed Hyderabad, Nov 24 (INN): In a prospective plan to develop coastal and maritime Andhra Pradesh, SP Sharma, I.G. Coast Guard, Regional Head Quarters, Chennai, suggested Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu an Integrated Coastal Zone Management Authority.
This, he said, will enhance the off-shore and on-shore management of economic activity without disturbing the ecological sensitivity of the coastal areas. He presented a document to the Chief Minister elaborating on various aspects that can be undertaken for strengthening Coast Guards.
Sharma also explained the Chief Minister that their contingent provides inherent security system to the ports and assistance during the time of disasters. In this regard, he brought to the Chief Minister's notice on the insurmountable de-berthing charges levied upon Coast Guards at private ports in the state.
Responding positively to their suggestions, the Chief Minister stressed on the need to have an integrated approach for the strengthening of Coastal Guards.
