YSRCP MP, MLA decides to join TRS Hyderabad, May 2 (INN): Khammam MP Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and Pinapaka MLA Payem Venkateshwarulu have decided to quit the YSR Congress Party to join the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi.
IT Minister K. Tarakarama Rao on Monday visited the residence of Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and invited him to join the TRS. MLA Venkateshwarulu was also present on the occasion. Accepting the invite, they decided to formally join the party on May 4.
Ponguleti was elected from Khammam Lok Sabha seat on YSRCP ticket in 2014 General election. He is also the president of Telangana unit of YSRCP. Venkateshwarulu is the party's floor leader in Assembly.
Speaking to media persons later, KTR said that the TRS have emerged as a strong party in Khammam district. He said that the party would gain more strength after Ponguleti and Venkateshwarulu joins it.
