'Bathukamma' in 9 countries: Kavitha Hyderabad, Sept 26 (INN): Nizamabad MP and Telangana Jagruthi president K. Kavitha informed that this year 'Bathukamma' festival will be celebrated in nine countries.
Speaking to media persons here on Monday, Kavitha said that the Telangana Jagruthi was organising the Bathukamma festival in nine countries including Kuwait, Bahrain, Dubai, UK, US and Australia. She said that large scale celebration of 'Bathukamma' was started 10 years ago primarily to involve women into Telangana movement. Since the statehood has been achieved, 'Bathukamma' is being celebrated as the festival of flowers which symbolises peace.
Kavitha said that although the Bathukamma was declared an official festival during previous regime, it was never implemented. But the TRS Government was celebrating the festival at a grand scale across the State. She said that the Telangana Jagruthi would celebrate the nine-day festival in all Assembly constituencies of Telangana.
The Nizamabad MP also informed that Telangana Jagruthi has expanded its activities and so far 17 skill development centres have been established across the State. She said there was a proposal to start one skill development centre for youth with hostel facilities.
