GHCC leaders campaign for Congress candidates Hyderabad, Jan 21 (INN): A group of senior leaders from Congress party has participated in the election campaign in favour of party candidates in Goa Assembly elections.
Greater Hyderabad Congress Committee (GHCC) Minority Department chairman Shaik Abdullah Sohail, TPCC Spokesperson Syed Nizamuddin, ex-corporator Mohammed Ghouse and others leaders took part in the election campaign in Panjim and other constituencies. They appealed the people to vote in favour of Congress party to free Goa from communal forces. They distributed phamplets and copies of Congress manifesto which promises fast pace development of Goa.
Addressing a gathering, Abdullah Sohail said that the Assembly elections in five State, especially in Goa, were of high significance. He said that the voters in these five States got the opportunity to express their anger against the BJP-led NDA Government which harassed and tortured common people in the name of demonitisation. He said Goa was among the worst-hit States due to demonitisation. Further, he said that Goa Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar has failed to deliver on his promises on development and only pursued communal agenda. He appealed the voters to elect Congress candidates to ensure formation of a secular government in Goa State.
Abdullah Sohail also cautioned Muslims against division of their votes which could benefit communal parties. He appealed them to remain united and vote consciously to elect right candidates. Muslims constitute nearly 8% of Goa's 14.5 lakh population and have a sizeable presence in five Assembly constituencies.
Other leaders including Mohd Ibrahim and Mohd Saleem also participated in the election campaign.
Earlier, Abdullah Sohail, along with other leaders, also met AICC General Secretary Digvijay Singh, who is party's incharge for Goa elections.
