Amaravati Global Music Festival from Feb 10
Amaravati, Feb 8 (INN): Pavitra Sangamam, confluence of the rivers of Krishna and Godavari will host two international events during this week. The very first Amaravati Global Music and Dance Festival will be held simultaneously with the National Women's Parliament.
The festival, scheduled to take place between 10th and 13th February, will feature Indian Classical, Western classical Music, Bollywood, Global fusion, folk music, contemporary world music and other genres of Music and Dance.
The main aim of the festival is to put Amaravati on the global map and expose the different music and art forms of Andhra Pradesh to the world audience.
On the inauguration day, at 5 PM, Sundara Rama Sroutigal troop will perform Sama Veda Chanting followed by Mangalavadya Nadaswaram by Gonu Guntla Brothers. Vyjayanti Kashi will take the stage for a spectacular Kuchipudi dance performance.
At 7.15 PM, a live performance will be given by one of the most noted exponents of Kathak, Pandit Birju Maharaj. This will be followed by performance of renowned violinist and composer Dr L Subramaniam.
On the 11th at 5.30 PM Vivek Sadasivam will render Annamacharya Kirtanas. Dr. Madhuri Devi will perform Navarasa Veena.
Artist and playback singer Kavita Krishnamurthy Subramaniam will perform at 7.15 which will be followed by a performance by Purno Das Baul, Anup Jalota, Suresh Wadkar, Talat Aziz and Langas of Vision of India.
On the 12 that is Sunday, there will be a performance by Dr Yella Venkateswahwar Rao on the mridangam. This will be followed by a concert by Viku Vinayakram and Swaminanthan on the ghatam. Table players Anindo & Anubrata Chatterjee will perform at 7.15. At 8.10 Trilok Guru Quaret with Sivamani will share the stage together. The day will end by a performance of L. Subramaniam and friends.
The last day of the festival Chhau Dance would be performed. Chhau Dance is a tribal art form that originated in the district of Purulia, West Bengal. It's a vibrant combination of dance movement with martial arts.
This will be followed by a violin duet by Dwaram Durga Prasad and Satyanarayana Rao. Global Fusion Concert by Solo Cissokho and Jeno Lizstes will be held.
The last performance is by Hema Malini and ensemble.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said, 'I am keen on making Amaravati a global hub for culture and I am delighted that the Amaravati Global Music and Dance Festival is an important step in this direction.'
He added that everyone should attend and participate in this festival and celebrate the spirit of Amaravati- The People's Capital.
