Canadian delegation met Chandra Babu Hyderabad, May 15 (INN): Canadian Consul General Jennifer Daubeny led a delegation consisting of 15 companies who are specialized in solar and Wind power, water treatment, effluent treatment, smart city management, IoT and various other sectors. These companies have employed latest technologies in their operations.
Giving a brief about Andhra Pradesh, the Chief Minister said he was focusing more on energy and power storage capacity. 'India is blessed with lots of sunshine and you might have experienced it today in Amaravati said the Chief Minister in a lighter vein.
He said that a solar power plant with a capacity of 1000Mw is coming up in Kurnool and in two years, the government plans to add other 4,600Mw of solar and wind power. He said that he is calling other companies specialized in power storage to come and demonstrate their solutions.
Solar energy is the best energy that has considerably brought down the unit cost of power production. He added that solar energy costs Rs 2.40 per unit whereas hydel power costs more than Rs 5 per unit.
He requested Canadian government to plan to build a township consisting of various companies in Amaravati.
The Chief Minister said he envisions Amaravati to be an international city with worlds 'best amenities.
'So many other countries are showing interest to work with us, said the Chief Minister and he has quoted the example of Singapore Government which has signed a MoU with the Andhra Pradesh Government today to develop the start-up area. It's a win-win situation and a mutual learning process,' the Chief Minister said.
India is very strong in IT and Andhra Pradesh is a leader in India, the Chief Minister said.
The Chief Minister said that Canada is very strong in technology and Andhra Pradesh is strong in manpower and land bank. You can come and demonstrate your best technologies, he added.
Consul General invited Chief Minister to visit Canada and other provinces. 'Your visit will create solid basis for discussions in many areas for collaboration,' she added.
'Please come and see our cities, we have some of the beautiful cities in world,' she stated.
In response, the Chief Minister said that his visit to Canada is long overdue and suggested that the Canadian companies come back with concrete proposals and that Andhra Pradesh is ready to take best practices.
Later, the Consul General praised the Chief Minister for making AP a laboratory of leading practices and now our task is to figure out how Canada fits into your plan, she said.
The Chief Minister said that he is a great admirer of Canada. 15 years back I have used Canada's latest technology of using of drones for land mapping.
Chandrababu Naidu has directed CEO, EDB Jasti Krishna Kishore to work closely with the Canadian government to bring best practices home and study further areas of collaboration.
Stanely C. Gomas, Consul and Senior Trade Commissioner, Ravikanth Tivari, Trade Commissioner, Ontario are part of the Canadian delegation.
Jasti Krishna Kishore CEO EDB, Ajay Jain, Principal Secretary Energy and CRDA and Vijayanand, Secretary IT were present in the meeting.
