Need to re-orient School Education Hyderabad, Dec 16 (INN): Addressing the students of Oakridge school and their parents on the school's foundation day in the evening of Saturday, Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) Managing Director NVS Reddy emphasised on the need to reorient Indian school education to the fast changing modern day requirements and challenges.
Explaining them various eras of knowledge development in human history right from the early cognitive revolution to the latest stage 4.0 industrial revolution of Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence and cognitive computing, he stated that memory based education and rote learning shall be replaced by modern methods of learning. Critical thinking, spirit of enquiry, questioning mind, cognitive learning and skill development shall be encouraged, he added
Giving practical examples from Hyderabad Metro which is the world's largest PPP (public private partnership)metro, the MD explained to them as to how original thinking and unconventional ideas helped him in addressing the various challenges in conceiving and implementing Hyderabad Metro as a PPP metro project, which was originally written off by many experts as a foolish idea and a jinxed project. He advised the students to be innovative, self confident and learn to face the challenges boldly. He also counselled them to develop passion for knowledge, perfection and excellence in their chosen fields, so that they can become future thought leaders and contribute to the progress of the country and mankind.
