“Good fences make good neighbours” This means that it is better for people to mind their own business and to respect the privacy of others. Well I really do not feel such proverbs do apply for all as for we Indian always love to peep into or go beyond privacy of others. Recently had one such situation,finally made me realize some bonds go beyond fences.

Dhad dhad dhad dhad(door banging).. still more dhad dhad dhad..
Myself: trying hard to wake up with sort of blurry vision(half opened eyes) on to the wall cloak..Its 8 morning..
Dhad Dhad Dhad..(I think the door is strong enough to hold this!)
Myself: Kaun Hein?.. Arahi hu Wait wait.(just trying to adjust myself wearing slippers.) ran fast towards the door and eyed through the watch hole but could not find anyone,as I was back home from mumbai at early morning 4(its sunday btw)the tiredness, made me to nap again, but still wondering who it could be!!.. Not bothering much i tried to pack back into my warmer. I could hear some sounds from outside...someone’s loud, strong voice, a kid's yelling, an elderly lady's voice with a typical telugu accent "Ammayi suitcaselu lona pettincheyyi.. Pilladu paducchesestunnadu.... and something something something ,"Annayya garu pikkintollani adigandi ittaru" so clear was her voice that i could trace that ultimately new neighbours landed into the vacant apartment next to ours. Her typical telugu accent somewhere amused me but the banging still disturbed me(my sleep).. So they are the AP tynnants my landlord was talking about recently..

Myself:Wow! Yennallaki intha clear telugu vintunna(sort of curiosity too started) woke up and started to brush and mobile in the other hand, checking for missed calls if any(especially from my hubby’s long call).

I rushed as fast I can and opened the door (partially) allowing only my head to toss out of the door.
An elderly man appeared in front with few men carrying heavy luggage into their house, with a humble smile he wished me.. “Memu mi pakka vaata loki kottaga digam.. Meeru kuda telugu vaara?(was it a Q or conformation??) I gave a shyful smile and adjusting my hair and dress(I was still in my sweat suit) and gave a affiramative response to his query.Then an elderly lady(maybe she was the one who was shouting previously) came out with the same dilouge but with a stern voice, Memu ..kottaga.. Ikkada pachari kottu yekkadamma?”. Ma saamanala Bandi inka digaledu.. Pilladi ki Paalu vedi chayyali gas banda(what was that?) ledu.. Mi Poyya vadukovacha? I was no where left out to say “NO”, after all this may happen to anyone especially when in new place, with delayed transport and kids who have to get their food in time.

I welcomed her into my house, trying to adjust all the luggage, hand bag, my shoes that were spread all around(remember I said I just returned this morning from journey).
Intially the elder lady, then an young lady(Daughter-inlaw) then another elderly gentle man last but not least the little kiddo, started with fresh milk- tea(thrice i think), to warming some food, then to some hot water(this i gave from my geaser).. Meanwhile some exchange of who is who, what is what and whereabouts, of course most of the talk was done by the old lady after a while, I could understand that she is the young lady's Mom-in law(even though i guessed and hi5ed my guess power!!), she actually inquired a lot more than needed which we young people feel little awkard ya little discomfortable to respond..(too many private Q's) Nuvvu, Mi aayana? pillalentha mandi,Miiidariki 2 padakagadulaa?Mi aaya office killipoyara??.. panipilla kuda undaa?, meeru em vutulu?( 1st I could not understand what she asked but later I can)about our jobs, daily routine (even the salaries too?) Can you cook? What can you cook? Have you cooked dinner yet? (Most of the questions revolved around food, of course). After the kitchen it was for some more needs, like small chair for the electrican, hammer( I gave my roti roller) then some buckets, then some info and finally all my house was fully examined and exclaimed upon(to compare with their part of rooms with ours)

I answerd with atmost patience though I was not able to understand much of her typical telugu accent but with lots of mumbling, bad telugu response from my side, my service was fulfilled. I just asked them to make use of my kitchen if they feel ok rather than going(disturbing still more for supplies)here and there.. By 12 the young lady( Geethika) was all set with the afternoon lunch with whatever I provided them, and myself trying to catch some time with the little kid. He was having good time with me as I gave all the soft toys to play and left myself in my room for a voice chat with my hubby:
Myself: Reached Shelton?
H: Nop! Not yet Jetlagging. Still in NY..:(
H:So no work 2day? Dumma 2 work?..Lazy lady..
Myself: Hmm, pretty tired(adjusting the mike)
H: What took u so long and wats that sound? Any1 with u?
Myself: New Neighbours!.. AP wale
Oh!! Wonderful good time ah! Ab tho full enjoy karloge, full happies anna mata..
Myself; Ha fulto happies ye..extremes lo undi happies(with sarcastic expression) since 1 hr I am been invaded and introgated by our new neighbours.
H: hahhaa.. Baby do not go beyond things.
Suddenly an unexpected voice from behind:
“Ammayi poyya meeda cooker pettesev apeyya mantava”
( now this is total breaking off of privacy) I was like shocked and no words.. She was just sitting behind me and I did not notice.’Nenu aapesanule” Ademti phona..mi vaara?” I just nodded trying to hide my shock and discomfort. After a while she left my room and myself to many shocks till that moment.
With her loud voice phone call conversation(I think now the whole street can feel her presence)in the sitout.“ Abbayi samanla bandi sangathemiti” A transport vallaki phone chesava?”Pendalaate nuvvu office kellipoyavu. Udyaum numdi intilone unnam antha,Mi pakka vaatalo ammayi chala sahayum chesindi ra abbayi.. Papam moddutanumdi anni andinchindi..Vanta kuda akkada chesukunnam, Tinku gaadu akkade a ammayi daggare unnadu” Chala maanchi vallu ra mi pakkintillo, geetha ki kuda manchi kalkshepam avtumdi le”…. Now it was her daughter-in laws turn to enact all over again what ever happened and all that helping part of mine,for a second though the voices sounded loud but now they become soothing for me. Just went to my kitchen to make lunch for me but to my surprise i found plateful of all the dishes covered with another plate on my table.I simply cannot express how I felt at that moment.
