Very interesting. But the great Subbaraman did not die a natural death. His partners in Devadas poisoned him with the help of the woman with whom he had an illicit relationship. He went home to her place for lunch like a prince and was apparently killed by poisoned food. The body was hurriedly cremated even before his father could reach Madras from Madurai. This extremely brutal fact has been confirmed in person by R.Balasaraswati Devi in a recent conversation.
A great composer, he would have ben a brilliant music director for several decades to come and also a stiff competitor to senior colleagues like S. Rajeswara Rao had he lived on.
In an article on film music, Ghantasala mentions Subbaraman's name ahead of all other composers.
The writer should be congratulated for reminding the present generation about this genius.
