Kalabharathi to Celebrate 9-Day Ganesha Chaturthi Edison, New Jersey: Kalabharathi, a community-based group in metro New Jersey/New York, announced the start of the Ganesha Chaturthi Festival as a 9-Day Utsav, beginning on Sunday September 8th 2013 in the Mall at Oak Tree, 1710 Oak Tree Road in Edison.
'Kalabharathi has been holding the Ganesha Chaturthi festival as a 9-day community event for the last 10 years and this will continue to celebrate the festival this year as well', announced the members of the Utsav Committee. Members of Kalabharathi see the increasing participation of the community over the years as their motivation for continued celebration of the Ganesha Chaturthi as a community festival.
Kalabharathi hosted preparatory meetings engaging several prominent community leaders prior to the event. Continuing on its efforts to expand the participation to a wider audience Kalabharathi setup various Coordination Committees. Kalabharathi also involved multiple organizations in the Utsav to facilitate this year's celebrations.
Utsav 2013 will start with Prathishta Pooja on Sunday September 8th at 4:00PM, continue with daily pooja from September 9th through 15th starting at 7:00 PM, and end on 9th day, Monday September 16th , with Nimajjan ceremony starting at 6:00 PM. During the 9-day Utsav, kirthans, bhajans and cultural events will mark the celebrations in which attendees, bhajan groups, students of many local dance and music schools, and professional artists are expected to participate.
Encouraged by the huge turnout last year, in particular on the 11th day of Nimajjan attended by nearly thousand members, 'we are anticipating an even larger participation by the community this year ' either as a volunteer to work with us or to attend the daily festivities with family and friends,' announced the organizers.
