Jagan faction MLAs too take part in Rachabanda Rajhamundry, January 25: Congress MLAs in the district, for the first time after former Kadapa MP Jaganmohan Reddy's faction separated from the mainstream, shared a common platform here. Timely efforts of DCC president Ch. Venugopalakrishna yielded the result and Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy's tour on Tuesday went off smoothly with the support from Jagan's faction and PRP MLAs.
After Mr. Jagan's Odarpu Yatra for nearly 40 days in East Godavari during August and September last year, former Minister Subashchandra Bose, Kakinada MLA Dwarampudi Chandrasekhara Reddy and Anaparti MLA N. Sesha Reddy stood behind Mr. Jagan and participated in his programmes till recently, wherever he conducted. Apart from the three, Tuni MLA Raja Ashok Babu, Razole MLA Rapaka Varaprasad, Mummidivaram MLA Ponnada Satish also supported Mr. Jagan initially. But later, DCC president Chellaboina Venugopalakrishna, Minister Thota Narasimham and Union Minister of State for Defence M.M. Pallam Raju slowly turned the tables to their side.
After Mr. Kiran Kumar Reddy assuming the office, except Mr. Subhashchandra Bose, all the remaining 10 Congress MLAs slowly started coming close to the Chief Minister. They even participated in Rachabanda on Tuesday. When Mr. Dwarampudi Chandrasekhara Reddy was contacted, he pointed out: 'It is a government programme. Mr. Jagan did not give any directive to us on Rachabanda. We are attending the programme on our own.' Some of the MPPs want to resign from the Congress and give their resignation letters to the Chief Minister and embarrass him during the Rachabanda programme. However, it was foiled by ZP Chairman and others at last minute.
