| మన రాష్ట్రంలో కొన్ని మూఢనమ్మకాలు
* పెదకాకాని బాజీబాబా దర్గా ఉరుసు లో గుర్రానికి తినిపించిన ఎంగిలి మిఠాయి భక్తులు ఎగబడి తింటారు,
* పరోపకారం కోసం తన దేహాన్నే కోసి ఇచ్చిన గొప్ప దానశీలి త్యాగమూర్తి మయూరధ్వజుడు. అతని పేరుతో నెలకొల్పిన ధ్వజస్థంభం నీడ గుడి మీదకానీ ఇళ్ళమీదకానీ పడకూడదంటారు.
* బుధవారం నాడు ఆడపిల్ల పుడితే అరిష్టం అని చంపేయటమో ఎక్కడో వదిలేసి రావటమో చేస్తారు.
* జాతర రోజులలో గ్రామశక్తి పోలేరమ్మ పట్టణంలో సంచరిస్తుంటుందని, అరిష్టం కలుగుతుందని శుభకార్యాలు చేయడం ఆపివేస్తారు. మసూచి ఆటలమ్మ లాంటి రోగాలను అమ్మవారికి ఆపాదిస్తారు.
* అనంతపురం జిల్లా హిందూపురం ఎస్‌.సడ్లపల్లిలో పిల్లలకు వచ్చిన కోరింత దగ్గు నయం కావడానికి కుక్క విగ్రహానికి పూజలు చేస్తారు.
* చేతబడి చేశారని పళ్ళు పీకడం, కిరోసిన్ పోసి నిప్పంటించడం, వివస్త్రలను చేయడం, కొట్టి చంపడం లాంటి దుశ్చర్యలకు పాల్పడుతున్నారు.
* చిత్తూరు జిల్లా కుప్పం నియోజకవర్గం శాంతిపురం మండలం సోమాపురం గ్రామంలో చిన్న పిల్లల జబ్బులకు అక్కడి పూజారి చెక్క చెప్పు వైద్యమే మందు. అనారోగ్యంతో వచ్చే వారికి దెయ్యాలు ఆవహించాయని, వాటిని తరిమేస్తే ఆరోగ్యం కుదుట పడుతుందని కొరడాతో బాదుతాడు. పిల్లలు లేని వారు తమ వీపుపై పూజారి పాదం పడితే పిల్లలు పుడతారని తొక్కించుకుంటారు.
* కొందరు గ్రహణం రోజు బోజనం చెయ్యరు, అమావాస్య నాడు పెళ్ళిచేసుకోరు. గర్బిణులు బయటకు రారు. వంటపాత్రలలో, నీటిలోగడ్డిపోచలు వేస్తారు. గ్రహణం కారణంగా దేవాలయాల్లో అన్నిసేవలు, దర్శనాలను రద్దు చేసి ఉదయం 10 నుంచి సాయంత్రం 6.30 వరకు ఆలయం తలుపులను మూసి వేస్తారు.
* బయలుదేరినప్పుడు ఎవరన్నా తుమ్మితే కాసేపు కూర్చొని మంచినీళ్ళు తాగి వెళ్ళమంటారు. పరీక్షల్లో కాపీకొడుతూ దొరికిపోయినా బయలుదేరేటప్పుడు తుమ్మిన వ్యక్తిదే తప్పు అతనిది మంచితుమ్ము కాదు అంటారు. తుమ్ము రాబోయే ప్రమాదాన్ని తమ్ముడై చెబుతుంది అంటారు.
* తండాల్లోని గిరిజనుల్లో ఎక్కువమంది ఆడపిల్లలు గలవారు ఆడపిల్లను దానమిస్తే మగపిల్లలు పుడతారంటూ మగపిల్లవాడికోసం ఆడపిల్లను దానం చేసి వదిలించుకుంటారు.
* కరీంనగర్ జిల్లాలో ఆవుకు మనిషి పుట్టాడని అందువలన కొడుకులు చస్తారని ఎంతమంది కొడుకులుంటే అన్ని దీపాలు వెలిగించారు.
* నాగమణి, నల్లపసుపు కొమ్ము, నేలగుమ్మడికాయ, నల్లపిల్లి, ఇరవైగోళ్ల తాబేలు, రెండుతలల పాము లాంటివాటికి అద్భుత శక్తులున్నాయనే కారణంతో లక్షలాది రూపాయలు తీసుకొని మోసం చేస్తున్నారు .(సాక్షి గుంటూరు6.11.2009)
దేశంలో కొన్ని మూఢనమ్మకాలు
* ఒరిస్సా-జీవితం సుసంపన్నం అవుతుందన్న నమ్మకంతో దేవతల విగ్రహాలకు లక్షల రూపాయల కరెన్సీ నోట్ల దండలు వేసి నదిలో నిమజ్జనం చేస్తారు. నీళ్లలో వేసిన డబ్బును తీసుకుంటే దేవత ఆగ్రహానికి గురికావల్సి వస్తుందన్న భయంతో ఎవరూ వాటిని తీసుకోరు.
* మధ్య ప్రదేశ్‌-జబల్‌పూర్‌కు చెందిన సర్జన్ బాబా-’సరోత బాబా’ ఈశ్వర్ సింగ్ రాజ్‌పుట్. గోళ్ళను కత్తిరించే గోరుగల్లు తో రోగుల కంటివ్యాధులను నయం చేస్తానని నమ్మబలికి పదకొండు ప్రాణాలను బలి తీసుకున్నాడు.http://telugu.webdunia.com/religion/believeitornot/article/0709/17/1070917027_1.htm
* కేరళ-నాడీ శాస్త్రంలో మీరు పాత జన్మలో ఎవరు, ఏమిటి అనే కాకుండా వచ్చే జన్మ లో ఎక్కడ ఎలా జన్మించబోతున్నారో కూడా చెప్పేస్తారు.
* నవరత్నాలు ధరిస్తే అపజయం ఉండదట. వజ్రాలు కొందరికి అదృష్టాన్ని కలిగిస్తాయని, కొందరికి అవి అరిష్టాన్ని తెస్తాయని నమ్మకం.
* గోదానం చేసినవారు పడవలో వైతరణి నదిని దాటగలరు గాని, గోదానం చెయ్యలేని పాపాత్ముడు సలసల కాగుతూ ఉండే ఆ నదిలో దిగి నడవవలసిందేనట,

The impact of the UV and other harmful rays emitted by sun during solar eclipse on pregnancy is still a matter of debate. There are scientific studies which proved that these rays may trigger chromosomal mutations leading to chromosomal abnormality and congenital diseases. That being said, it is true that we have a lot of superstitions which should be fought. But I am not sure what harm is there in closing our temples during eclipse. This has been our tradition since time immemorial. The so called rationalists have every right to fight superstitions like witchcraft and other social evils. But what right do they have to questions some of our harmless traditions? I don't see any good to the mankind by leaving the temples open on eclipse. Who are they to question our personal beliefs as long as they are not harming anyone? Sometimes, I cant help thinking that some anti-hindu organisations are behind these so called rationalist groups. Who knows ..may be they might even object worshipping in temples in days to come. I wonder what they would say then about the worshipping in other religious institutions? I am sure they would keep quiet since they belong to those religions. To conclude, no religion is free from myths. Especially when your religion has a history of 5000 years. Hinduism withstood the vagaries of time, underwent many changes and bore the brunt of many invasions. Many of our libraries and temples were ransacked and gutted in fire by the invading armies. We lost a lot of works which were a result of generations of scientific contemplation and investigation. I wonder why those people who speak of Rahu and Ketu myth, comfortably forget to mention the findings of Aryabhatta, Brahmagupta and Varahamihira. Long before Copernicus, Aryabhatta propounded the heliocentric model of our solar system. He did not stop there. He explained eclipses in terms of shadows cast by and falling on Earth. Aryabhata's computation of the Earth's circumference as 39,968.0582 kilometres was only 0.2% smaller than the actual value of 40,075.0167 kilometres. This further disproves the fact that our ancients believed that the earth is flat.
May be it is some kind of fashion to reject your own in the name of superstition. It gives u 'look' of an intellectual. Utlimately, my point is we should fight superstition, but not at the cost of undermining some of our traditions.
