This is a beautiful article and a clear message to parents and especially to Mothers of young children. Sir, I am also observing one thing as you said parents are getting hyped with the achievements of children and they are trying to show off to others that their children are studying abroad and doing wonders. As you said, these days parents though they are really not enjoying or appreciating what their children are doing, they are trying to put a bold face outside. I have seen young girls who come abroad for studies are having live-in relationships and especially our telugu girls are prefering whites as their boy-friends. I have seen girls living here together with boys and living like almost husband and wife and one fine day they are realising that it is not a permanent relationship. Parents are encouraging their children to go abroad and study but they are overseeing their cultural pervertions and leaving value system to winds. Here I am not blaming all the girls. The trend is set by many already. Marriage and sanctity have no meaning in their dictionary. One of my friends recently was telling me that she got her niece for higher studies and they also went to an extent of paying several thousands of dollars as her fee. This girl has moved out of their house without any warning and she is a free bird now and does not keep any contact with her uncle and aunt. She has developed friendship which are not healthy and to safeguard her interests she even maligned her people outside syaing that they are mental and she does not feel good in their house. It is her parents to be blamed as they did not give a second thought to their daughter's behaviour and did not try to understand why she is creating stories. Now she is one of those westernised attitudes "Don't care. It is my life". As rightly said by you, it is mother who gives good Sanskar to their children. Any child who just comes out of a strict parental control, if not given proper advise at the right time, will choose freedom as a stepping stone for her own ruin and bringing disrepute to the family ultimately. She might earn dollars and show to the people that she is an achiever. But where are the values? will she be really happy in her future life with this attitude is a big question. By boasting about our kids with relatives, we might get temporary satisfaction. But are we really happy when our children go hay-way and drink and dance in the clubs and go out with boys all night? Here socialisation does not mean that we should leave out value system. Mix up with people of all cultures and at the same time keep up yours intact which is expected of the young children who come over here for studies. I am surprised to see some young children who are born and brought up here are much more better than those (I mean not all) who come from remote places to further their education here or who come to do professional degrees as they do not get admissions in prestigeous institutes in India due to the severe comeptition there. I think your article may throw light on parents to do self-retrospection when they try to live with falsehood and double standards when they allow their children to have full freedom to do things in a wrong way.
