Some time back, there came a movie called-'Pukar' featuring Anil Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit. The movie was not a great hit. For all I know, it was an average movie or even a flop. I never saw the movie either. But, after an year or so of the movie's release, I saw one of its videos on a music channel. The song was 'key sara sara..'. First, I was a bit shocked to see Prabhu Deva on the screen. Don't look at me like that..I said..I didn't see the movie! and in the place where I lived in those days, Hindi films were not discussed much. Now, let us come to the point. It is the song that I want to talk about. On the forefront, Madhuri Dixit was just superb in that dance sequence. Then, it was wonderfully choreographed. Also, there was a perfect synchronism between music and the dance. On the whole, the song is indeed a great show. It is a stunner. Since the day I saw the song, I was mad about both Madhuri & Prabhu deva. They looked a perfect pair in that shoot. That Madhuri Dixit is a great dancer is beyond doubt. But, not many directors realised this and not many among those who realised this did justice to her talent. When you see some of her Dance movements is certain songs like that of devdas, saajan and many more, her talent is unleashed. Ofcourse, i didn't see much of her movies. But, with the advent of satellite channels, one can view all songs if not the movie. In my school days, we had an english sir who liked madhuri dixit very much. we deduced this from his classes as for every example, he used to use the name-'madhuri dixit'! so, I used to wonder..how did he like her? we used to comment on his liking to madhuri. But, after I saw this song, I too liked her. Then, I understood one of the reasons why some people like some people in a way that might look funny to others. Some time later, my search for the video of 'key sara sara' began. Ofcourse, I am not that kind of searcher who goes round, round and round the city and finally gets it. I am only like a starter of the tubelight. I tried searching over the net. But, as i told you, I am only a starter. so, I left that and I just used to wonder occasionally....'how wonderfully they both danced in that song!' A few days back, my brother came home with a CD in his hand which had a video of this song. I thanked him a lot for he remembered my wish which I said to him very long back. I sat leisurely, and watched it. But, to my surprise, it looked like just another song for me! I was first shocked. I expected an all together different experience. I was so dissapointed with it that I just switched it off. I didn't understand why the song, which looked just wonderful for me on the first glance was so ordinary in the second glance. I never cared this until yesterday. But, I watched the song again yesterday. This time, I didn't have any feeling. I just watched it. Now, it was wonderful as usual for me. Madhuri was as astounding as she was when I saw the song for the first time. She was an eye-catcher. Prabhu deva-does one need to say about his dance? I didn't understand the reason for this difference of opinion. As I thought for myself resting on the bed for a while, I understood one thing. I remembered a story which i read in some old children's magazine in my school days. It must have been 'bala mitra' or 'bommarillu' or something(i don't know if these mags are still in vogue). let me use some assumed names- There lives a guy called Ram in a village Rampur. He is known to be very handsome and is a dream boy of many girls of neighbouring villages. A guy called Krishna from Krishnapur loves a girl called Radha of his own village. But, Radha is madly in love with Ram even without seeing him and declares that she will marry ram, ram and only ram. At this juncture, one day, krishna goes on a visit to rampur. On returning, he starts a flattery of ram before radha. he says-'Ram is just wonderful. There is no one who surpasses him in beauty. He is just incomparable.' he is that, he is this and so on. A few days after this, Ram arrives at Krishnapur for some reason. Now, Radha is disappointed at seeing him. She feels that Krishna is better-looking than ram!!! Finally, Krishna and Radha marry each other. Now, Radha asks Krishna-'why din't I like him?' Krishna laughes and answers-'I exaggerated so much that you expected too much! So, even though he was handsome, you didn't feel it'. The story ends here with Radha wondering at her husband's skill. Now, finally I understood the reason behind my multiple feelings about the song at different instances. Did you?
