With the unprecedented havoc Tsunami played last year, scientists around the world have predicted another natural calamity, on the lines of tsunami, in the offing during the months of march and april this year. Their predictions have
come true with mondays devastating earth quake off the coast of Sumatra. Though, the loss of life and scale of destruction is much less when compared to the earlier one, the predictions have come true. Keeping in view of this prediction, we, at Sri Vidya Trust have successfully organised a puja, which was the first of its kind in the world, to ward off another natural calamity like Tsunami. It was a pournami puja conducted at gymkhana
rounds,Secunderabad on 25th of this month from 5.30p.m. to 7.00p.m. The puja started with a mass chanting of Lalitha Sahasranamam (thrice) by a few thousand people at one go. Cutting across the age groups, people from all walks of life had
enthusiastically participated in the event. Sri Sivaramaiah garu of Sree Rama Publishers had graciously donated 500 SREECHAKRAS to the participants. Several elderly people attended this event with renewed vigour and joined the mass
chanting of Lalita Sahasranamam.
Guruji sri sri sri Annapoornamba sahitha Amruthanandanatha founder of the first ever temple in the form of a sreechakra at Devipuram, conducted the event by starting the anganyasa karanyasa and rendering the sahasranama performed in the chandrodaya sumuhurtham under the rays of the fullmoon. In the presence of an able guru the event was aimed at individual prosperity and world peace but the main sankalpam was to ward off natural calamities like Tsunami on 26 december last year on a fullmoon day. The ocean is generally turbulent on a full moon day since the month of march and april were earmarked as unsafe periods tend to trigger another natural calamity, we thought that, nature when worshipped as a mother could be subdued to an extent. Hence, we choose the gentle and gracefull 1000 names of devi to apppease her and soothen her ferociousness. We feel that mother nature is willing to listen to our pleas. We at sri vidya trust would like to contribute our strength to the world and are working out on a series of such events for ecological restoration.
People who are interested to join us in this mission for peace may please stay in touch with us and lend a helping hand in preserving the planet. Stay tuned with the forthcoming event on 23 april 2005 evening 6.00p.m. to 8.00p.m. at Kotla Vijaya Bhaskara Reddy auditorium grounds 1st battallion apsp yousufguda, near Yousufguda check post, Yousufguda, Hyderabad.
